Infrared Sauna FAQs

  • You may disrobe to your comfort level in the sauna; many people prefer to remove all their clothes, while others wear a swimsuit. The room is completely private with a locking door. We also provide towels and robes if you would like to take a quick shower afterwards. We do recommend bringing your own shower shoes.

We recommend our customers avoid wearing jewelry, make-up, physio tape, shoes, sauna suits, and dirty clothes.

  • The minimum age for the sauna is 12 years old.

  • Yes! It is in its own private room located directly next to the sauna. We provide robes for you to go from the sauna to the shower.

  • Our infrared sauna temperature is set by staff based on your preference and typically ranges from 120–175°F. For safety and consistency, the control panel is locked during sessions. While we do our best to accommodate temperature requests, adjustments cannot be guaranteed, as temperatures vary between back-to-back guests. If you feel a change is needed during your session, you’re welcome to ask a staff member. For the best experience, we recommend choosing a temperature you’re comfortable staying in for the entire session.

  • Yes, you’re welcome to bring your phone with you. While many guests enjoy unplugging and using the time to relax or meditate, we also offer a Bluetooth speaker inside the sauna. There is a designated compartment where phones can be safely stored for easy access during your session.

  • The sauna may leave you with an elevated body temperature after leaving the sauna for several minutes and possibly up to an hour. You may also feel an increase in thirst and it is recommended to drink lots of water with electrolytes both before and after the sauna. Please speak with us if you are new to sauna use.

  • If you have any pre-existing health conditions, please check with your doctor prior to using any of our services. If you have any open wounds, we recommend waiting until your wound is closed to use salt therapy or the sauna. Red light may help aid in the healing process, but please contact us before making your appointment so we can determine if this is the best treatment for you.

Infrared sauna is not recommended for pregnant women, children under 12, those with a current fever, an intolerance to heat, hemophiliacs, and anyone under the influence of alcohol or drugs.

  • Yes! lighting is customizable during your session. Guests may turn the interior and exterior lights on or off and choose from our chromotherapy colors: violet, blue, green, yellow, orange, or red, to match your mood and relaxation goals.

  • Guests can check how much time they have remaining on their sauna session by looking at the time countdown on the control panel.

Infrared Sauna

The infrared sauna distinguishes itself from traditional dry heat and steam saunas by utilizing invisible infrared wavelengths. Similar to the warmth emitted by the sun, these wavelengths increase the body's thermal energy, effectively heating the body from the inside out. Notably, the infrared rays employed in this technology are distinct from those that cause sunburn, ensuring a safe and beneficial experience.

There are three distinct categories of infrared wavelengths: near, mid, and far infrared. Each type offers unique health benefits. Near infrared wavelengths are absorbed just beneath the skin's surface, inducing sweating and initiating the detoxification process. Mid infrared wavelengths penetrate deeper into the body's soft tissue, increasing blood flow and oxygenation. This can be particularly beneficial for injured or painful areas, promoting accelerated healing and relaxation.

Far infrared wavelengths, being the longest, have been shown to penetrate adipose cells, facilitating the release of stored toxins. Fat cells often retain toxins that enter the body, and far infrared sauna therapy can aid in eliminating these toxins, leading to improved overall health. Additionally, this process may support weight loss and enhanced metabolic function.

Our state-of-the-art Clearlight sauna at The Wellhaus utilizes all three infrared wavelengths, providing a comprehensive and therapeutic experience.

The incorporation of infrared heat in our sauna results in a lower ambient temperature compared to traditional saunas. Typically, our infrared sauna operates within a temperature range of 125°F to 145°F, whereas traditional saunas can reach temperatures of up to 195°F. This moderate temperature allows the body to gradually warm up and initiate sweating naturally, rather than being suddenly exposed to extreme heat. Consequently, this experience promotes relaxation and leverages the numerous health benefits inherent to infrared heat therapy.

We offer three different time options for the sauna.

  • 20 minutes: For those new to sauna use, or just short on time.

  • 30 minutes: The goldilocks session. Not too short, not too long!

  • 45 minutes: For the seasoned sauna pro.
